Healing, heritage and hospitality in the heart of Bristol.
Healing: Our residential support services for vulnerable people are open to all in need, whatever their background or circumstance.
Heritage: The former Benedictine Priory of St James is the oldest building in Bristol! It has a fascinating story to tell and has witnessed almost a millennia of Bristol’s development.
Hospitality: Like our Benedictine predecessors we extend a warm welcome to all who visit.
Our refectory café serves delicious refreshments and our well-equipped meeting rooms and central locality make us an ideal venue for conferences and community group bookings.
St James is still a place of Christian (Roman Catholic) worship and devotion but is open to all people from any faith or none.
Our Core Values are:
From 1238 until 1838 an annual fair was held in the grounds and surrounding streets & land of St James Priory. It was regarded as the most important of the Bristol Fairs.
Goods from all over Britain were showcased, accompanied by a variety of entertainments.
We are reviving this fair for the first time in over 100 years and invite you to participate by selling your goods, providing music, entertainment or representing your favourite charity.
Open Doors Day attracts many visitors to the Priory and our fair will complement this popular attraction.
