10th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION - 3RD JUNE 2006
On this day in 1996 Walsingham House opened. Since then over 1500 people have been assessed and almost 800 admitted for treatment and support.
In 1999 St James House was opened on the same date.
Almost 200 people gathered to celebrate on a gloriously sunny day. Ex-residents, staff and volunteers mixed with supporters and benefactors.
Bishop Mervyn Alexander (now retired), who opened both Houses, was able to attend.
The afternoon was a marvellous celebration of the Project which has grown from small beginnings to become a well respected local and national resource for supporting and treating people with addictions.
Thanks to all who attended or helped in any way.
It really was good to meet up with all those people who had an association with the Project.
INVESTOR IN PEOPLE
The Project was re-assessed on March 20th 2006 and was found to "continue to comply with the requirements of the Investors in People standard."
This was good news as it re-affirmed the Project's goal of investing in staff and volunteers.
" The St James Priory Project is able to demonstrate excellent communications throughout the organisation. This has had a huge impact not only on staff, but it is recognised that a solid, united approach provides an excellent model for residents and this in turn, impacts on the success rate of those completing the programme. "
" People throughout the organisation believed that they had been effectively encouraged by managers to really become involved in decisions which would impact on them and their contribution to the Project and its success. "

She spent over an hour meeting, speaking with and listening to staff and residents.
She made quite an impression, revealing herself to be knowlegable about drug issues and very understanding and empathic towards the residents.
